MINUTES OF THE MEETING


 


On the 10th of February President Jorge Morgado called the ELSA Board of Directors meeting to order at approximately 6:00 p.m.


 


The following Directors were present:  Jorge Morgado, Hayes Murray, Katie O’Sullivan, Jen Soja, Jeff Reilly


 


Others Present:  Steve Vigneux, Donna Prather, Dave Serafino (ELHS boys varsity coach)


 


Open Forum 6:00pm - 6:05pm


No attendees present for open forum discussion.


Spring soccer sign up 6:05pm – 6:10pm


The status of current soccer registration follows:


U8 boys -11


U8 girls - 13


U9-13 girls – 59


U9-13 girls – 39


U14 boys – 1


U14 boys – 12


 


There is potential to have HS Roots teams this year.  So far eight boys have indicated interest, and


HS girls is pending communication with ELHS coaches/AD/Boosters.


 


Donna Prather will send reminders to parents and schools.  Deadline to register on the rec portal is 2/15.  Roots team commitment deadline is 3/1.  Field and coach information is due on 3/7, Roots division placement are locked on 3/14, schedule is locked on 4/14, start of season 4/25.


 


Tryouts for fall soccer:  soccer XS or MYSA 6:10pm – 6:15pm


ELSA is looking into the most efficient tryout evaluation process and is considering soccer XS coaches or using MYSA (Mass Youth Soccer Assoc.) evaluators.  Tryouts will be coordinated in late May/early June, will need to work around roots playoffs, premier/club tryouts.  Director Reilly will get in touch with MYSA reps and research cost, structure and availability.


Soccer heroes spring - 6:15pm – 6:30pm


Soccer heroes (pre-k, formerly little kickers) program will be available in the Spring.  The Rec dept. will facilitate sign up’s in the rec portal.  The cost will be $65 per player and the program will run for 8 weeks.  There is a promotional brochure to be emailed to promote program.  Director Soja will assist in the communication and coordination of the program and coaches.  Mountain View is a potential location.


Roots meeting update 6:30pm – 6:50pm


Roots is not joining MYSA pilot in the Spring 2020 but will join in fall 2020.  EL will get the chance to participate in MTOC (MA tournament of champions) in the Spring.  USCS and MYSA will be the governing bodies of RSL.  Fees:  USCS $12/player/year and $24/coach/2 years.  MYSA $17/player and coach/year.


Finance update 6:50pm – 7:15pm


$9,000.84 balance in the ELSA account. 


Fall travel U9-14 cost per participant was $185 per player vs. a fee charged of only $135.  Spring U8-14 cost is estimated at $85 per player, with the same fee being charged.  This should aid in the recovery of the loss taken in the fall. 


Motion to approve Steve Vigneux as new Board member 7:15pm – 7:30pm


There is currently one open Board position - co-registrar.  A motion was made at the December 18th meeting to approve Steve Vigneux as a new Board member.  President Morgado moved to approve Steve as a Board member, serving as the co-registrar.  The motioned was seconded by Director Reilly.  The motion passed.


Other Business


The next ELSA board meeting is scheduled for Thursday March 19th at 6:00 pm.  There being no further business, President Morgado adjourned the meeting at approximately 7:30 p.m.
